What’s a home if it doesn’t beckon you to come back to it at the end of the day? What’s a home without the walls etched with memories and ringing with laughter? One of the main purposes of good interior décor is to bring harmony between the home and the people living in it. Which is primarily why collaborating with a good interior designer becomes essential. The job of a good interior designer is not merely to point out the right colours and the right accessories which will make your home look pretty, but more to understand your personality and have aspects of that reflect in the surroundings. The job of a good interior designer is not just to make sure that you pick the right furniture, but more to work towards bringing in an air of positivity in your home.
Such is the case with this beautiful home in Salarpuria Greenage, Bomanahalli, Bangalore. Owned by the Young couple – Kavita and Raghu. They are the epitome of the fun loving, modern generation with a contemporary outlook on life. Unfortunately, after moving in from Bombay, their lives became too busy for them to create their dream home by themselves. Which is where our very own Madhu stepped in. After making a quick analysis of their personalities, Madhu realised that what the couple were looking for was a modern take on their interiors. Essentially, they wanted the décor to be contemporary and elegant while being spacious and having sufficient storage space in all rooms. An interesting twist to the tale came when Raghu mentioned at the very onset that he did not want to go for the wooden traditional look for his interiors at all. But for Madhu and all her years of expertise, this came as quite an interesting challenge.
From the beginning, Madhu decided to stick to her clients’ expectations and deliver something that made their vision turn into reality. She achieved this by using light colours and mirrors as she complimented them with simple straight designs to incorporate a sense of spaciousness. Once the first few drafts were shared and agreed upon, nothing could stop this power couple and their brilliant interior decorator from making their house a home of their dreams.
As one can see, it is the little elements that come together to form the complete design. For example, wardrobe partitions were carefully designed keeping all requirements of both Kavita and Raghu in mind, while combining the TV unit and dressing unit together gave the advantage of space.
The highlight of the home, however, is the dining counter in the kitchen and the way it has been separated from the utility with a beautiful glass partition. The entire space comes together in the end with the clever use of colour and carefully selected texture paint, which imparts an overall elegance and class.
Interestingly, yellow, quite definitely NOT the dirty fellow, is a colour that stands for intellect and the power of the mind. It’s a colour that embodies the left or the logical side of the brain which stimulates our mental faculties and creates mental agility and perception. It exemplifies inquisitiveness and inspires original thought. Resonating the qualities of Orange, Yellow, also creates enthusiasm and can awaken great confidence and optimism. Lighting plays a significant role as it creates a good ambience apart from adding a lot of character to the rooms while complementing the colours used perfectly.
Raghu and Kavita’s home in Salarpuria Greenage is synonymous with everything that’s modern, contemporary, stylist but at the end of it all, is still a home!0
